Accessibility
For persons with disabilities and faculty/staff related accommodations, the Office for Accessibility and Gender Equity promotes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and coordinates the accessibility of all areas of campus to persons with disabilities. This includes the coordination of new building construction and remodeling, adherence to federal legislation such as Section 504 and the ADA, distribution of information to faculty and staff. The Office for Accessibility and Gender Equity is also responsible for coordinating faculty and staff-related accommodations in the workplace.
Student-Related Accommodation Issues
The Disability Resource Center coordinates the needed accommodations of students with disabilities. This includes the registration of disabilities, academic accommodations within the classroom, accessing special adaptive computer equipment, providing interpretation services, and mediating faculty-student disability-related issues.
Students must be registered with the Disability Resource Center to be eligible to receive accommodations from the University of Florida.

Information Sessions
As a service to the University community, the Committee on Persons with Disabilities coordinates departmental information sessions throughout the academic year. The information sessions have been coordinated through the Office for Accessibility and Gender Equity and the Disability Resource Office.
The purpose of the information session program is to answer questions faculty and staff have about educating students with disabilities, including appropriate methods of providing accommodations. The sessions also provide an opportunity for departments to address employee and employer-related issues.
Information sessions are available for individual departments and are tailored to meet the needs of departmental staff. Please contact the ADA Coordinator, Dr. Russ Froman, to arrange a date and time.
